We’re finally home after a 6 day long evacuation from Hurricane Gustav! I am absolutely exhausted. Let me tell you why…..6 days in Monroe, LA and 5 trips to the Monroe hospital. Yep. Five.
Trip One: My friend just had a baby before we evacuated and was dehydrated. Rushed to ER.
Trip Two: Friend’s sister comes to help with newborn in hotel room and falls down hotel stairs.
Trip Three: My Grandmother collapses at breakfast. Admitted to Monroe hospital. (she is fine now).
Trip Four: Lily has a suspicious bug bite on her arm. Turns out to be Staph Infection.
Trip Five: My husband catches a stomach virus (which we now think is strep throat) and has to go to ER for fluids.
I. am. not. kidding.
This evacuation was a nightmare. I am so happy to be home. Thank you all for your prayers, emails and well-wishes! The good news is that my home sustained little damage. Only one portion of our backyard fence was blown down.
Go AWAY Ike!
What a horror!
Oh my, B! I can’t imagine how rough that must’ve been! I’m praying Ike will stay far away from you.
That. Is. Awful. I’m happy you made it home safely.
Oh my goodness! 5 trips to the hospital in the middle of all that? (((big hugs))) I’m glad you’re home now.
You’ve been given an award!
that’s horrible! i hope everyone is ok! evacuations are never fun, so i’ve heard, but to have that happen is just not cool! I’m glad y’all are home now. Home is the sweetest place on Earth. And as for Ike, looks like he’s gonna miss y’all! i’ll be praying tho.
So glad you got home!
It looks like Ike is coming more my way. For you, I hope it comes closer…. but really if I am wishing for it to go anywhere, I hope it goes closer to the King Ranch. Not much down that way but cows. 🙂 Or hm, that it just goes away.
I’m Audrey. I found you through the blog carnival. Wow, what a nightmare you’ve had. Gustav really wrecked havoc 🙁
I am so glad you are home and safe. Geeeez – 5 trips to the hospital??
