Mardi Gras Mambo Day 7: Krewe of Barkus CONTEST CLOSED

The Mystic Krewe of Barkus was envisioned and created in November 1992. This is an all dog krewe that parades on foot through the French Quarter each year. The Queen is selected by secret ballot and announced only weeks before the parade, and is always a rescued/adopted female dog. The King ascends through the ranks, usually after being a Duke or Grand Marshall.

Every year the Krewe of Barkus donates the proceeds of the parade registration fees, merchandise sales, and ball profits to worthy animal welfare groups.

This year’s theme is BatMutt:The Bark Night

  19. Oh I think that Rocky (Cairn/Yorkie Terrier) would definitely be the coolest dog in town in the Incredible Hulk Hoodie. Honestly Too Cool, toss up between the Hulk and Spiderman. Green is his color.

  51. I love all the cute dog tees and clothes! Unfortunately Millie is a basset hound and too big for most of them.

    I love the buddy belts, but she would probably like the treats best! The Real Brooklyn Pizza Treat Tin sounds especially good!

Pudgy Princess is a rescue – her former owner decided she didn’t want her anymore and dropped her off to be put down 🙁 She ended up on our laps because they knew I was a corgi lover and our other corgi had just passed on to the Rainbow Bridge. I know this is horrible, but I hope the woman gets random outbreaks of hives all the time.

    Actually, all of our pets are rescues or off death row from the shelter.

  70. smiling here.. my dog is large, he's a doof… normally he doesn't get the extravegant things in life.. the dog loves plastic for some odd reason, but i couldn't help but fall in love with the Paris Dog Collar & Lead , the joke would be on him..he's also a rescue dog
