Great American Backyard Campout with Hershey’s: Giveaway

hypothesis Making Hershey’s S’mores with my family will be a great way to add fun and excitement to our backyard Fourth of July barbeque!

materials

One bar of Hershey’s Original Milk Chocolate, 4 Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows, 4 Honey Maid Graham Crackers, our barbeque grill and four very eager family members waiting for dessert.  From the press release:

35898_C_visual_identityHershey®’s Milk Chocolate bars, coupled with crispy Honey Maid® Graham Crackers and toasted Kraft Jet-Puffed® Marshmallows are a centerpiece of summertime fun. S’mores have been helping families create memories since the delicious campfire recipe was first published in the Girl Scouts handbook in 1927. According to recent research, 79 percent of consumers polled believe S’mores are as much fun to make as they are to eat. This summer The Hershey Company and Kraft Foods have partnered to help families and friends take S’mores beyond the campfire as a special snack and activity – “snacktivity” – to create lasting memories all summer long.

results For us, the Fourth of July is generally low key.  We don’t do big parties or elaborate fireworks displays, but prefer spending time with our immediate family making lasting memories for our children.  This year, my youngest daughter was ill, so our usual swim activity just wouldn’t work out.  So, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to share with you some fun ideas from the Kraft More S’mores More S’miles website.  For example:

Grilling up Sweet Treats Sweeten your next backyard barbecue by adding S’mores to the menu. As an alternate to toasting a marshmallow on a skewer, simply preheat the grill to medium-hot. Build the S’more to your liking and wrap in aluminum foil. Place the wrapped S’mores on the grill and cook 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until marshmallow is gooey and the chocolate slightly melted between the graham crackers. Try Limited Edition Honey Maid® Squares, perfect for S’mores.

After we ate the yummy barbeque hamburgers my hubby made for us, we decided to let the girls build their own S’mores.  This was a great activity that even my youngest daughter could participate in.  After only a few minutes on the grill, the S’mores were warm, gooey and ready to be eaten!  We each ate one before watching the fireworks in our neighborhood from our porch swing.

Even though it was low key, we had a wonderful time!

  6. I would stick with the classic so as not to loose any of the great taste. The clusters would be my second choice, but then you will need to make sure to lick all the sticky chocolate/mellow from the dish you have set it in – and I sure don’t want to miss out on even that last little bit! YUM!
