In August of 2005, my life drastically changed as Hurricane Katrina moved over land. It’s impact flooded my City and hundreds of thousands of people suffered major losses. While I am thankful that my family survived, my possessions did not. I am thankful because most possessions can be replaced, but the pictures and important documents really hit me hard.
While we were evacuated and having to deal with insurance issues, medical emergencies and unemployment, I was longing for the documents that would have made the whole process easier. Fortunately, after being introduced to About One, I will never be in this situation again! A little about the service from their website:
“AboutOne is an online family management system that helps busy families manage what matters most: precious memories and household information. It was designed by moms for moms (and dads too!) to make managing this information fast, fun, and easy.
The magic of AboutOne is that in just a few clicks your information is stored with bank-level security, and all your posts are automatically combined, saving you time on everyday chores like creating family newsletters, scrapbooks, hardcover photo albums, and creating and mailing holiday cards; or completing school forms, college applications, caregiver instructions, and tax returns. With AboutOne.com, you’ll also have the information you need, right at your fingertips, to make informed decisions and respond quickly to an emergency.”
After getting a product tour from the Owner and employees of About One (who are so passionate about the product!), I could not imagine how I have lived without this family management tool! I immediately started my subscription, set up my family members and started to scan and upload some of my most important documents (birth certificates, marriage license, house note, flood insurance, etc.). Next came the pictures! You can upload pictures and attach a story to the photo in order to remember important events or milestones. You can record your child’s immunization records (and set up reminders, too!), test scores, prescriptions, teacher information and so much more. Storing all of your child’s school information will make applying to college very simple!
Another great feature of About One that will come in handy during the holidays is the gift section. You can store ideas for gifts for your family members and even check them off once they are purchased. As a family members birthday draws near, you can set up reminders so you don’t miss a thing! About One has also recently partnered with Astonishing Cards which, starting December 1st, will allow subscribers to choose from their contact list recipients for various cards (holiday cards, birthday invites, etc). You can purchase cards, have the enveloped addressed, stamped and mailed! How’s that for time saving?!?
Another impressive quality of About One is their philanthropic efforts. The company partners with Operation Shower to throw baby showers for wives of injured military personnel. In fact, my review network, the Double Duty Divas, will be working with About One to host a Twitter Party in an effort to raise money for this charity (while giving out some fabulous prizes, too, of course!). More details of the party will be revealed shortly, but just between you and me, it will be December 2nd at 8pmCST! Just follow hashtag #OGT!
There are so many great features of About One that it is impossible to list them all. Check out the following video to take a site tour and see how this service can help you organize your life. A subscription can be purchased for $5/month or $30/year……a small price to pay for peace of mind!

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Double Duty Divas and About One. I received a one year subscription to the service in order to facilitate this review however all opinions remain 100% mine.
Wow, this is pretty cool. I’m not sure I could pick just one thing. I think having documents in one thing would be very helpful.
