One of the things I loved the most about my childhood were Spring and Fall days riding my bike around the neighborhood with my best friends. We had a sense of freedom, even if our parents were watching from the window. So, I could not wait to teach my oldest daughter to ride her bike and enjoy the lazy days of Summer.
Fortunately, Santa brought a brand new bike last year and Lily could not have been more excited. However, Lily is my least adventurous child and became quite anxious about falling and hurting herself. Of course, we had bought her all of the protective gear and Dad was ready to go with his helmet (similar to the Helmet City bicycle helmets), too. Off they went to a local park to get down the basics of bicycle safety.
Pedal, balance, steer and brake. The first lesson was only mildly successful, but Lily survived with no bumps, bruises or tears. Dad did a great job teaching her! Lily still has quite a way to go before she can ride off into the sunset on her bike, but I am looking forward to riding together as a family for fun and exercise. Pretty soon, we will all have to outfitted by Helmet City and maybe even get some tour master jackets! Look out!
