Tonight is my least favorite nights of the whole year. The night where I lose one of the most precious things in my life. The thing I do not get enough of…ever. Any guesses? I am sure most of my Mom readers shouted SLEEP! And you would be exactly right.
It’s time to Spring forward which means we lose an hour of sleep tonight. Don’t forget to reset your clocks and it’s also time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. We were fortunate to have a local fireman (and personal friend) come to my home and teach my kids all about fire safety. After engaging with the kids, he offered tips to my husband and I on how we can make our home safer. One of the most important things was making sure we had working smoke detectors!
The chat with a fireman was most welcome because of a recent tragic event that hit far too close to home. Since this event, my husband and I placed additional smoke detectors in our home and make sure that we change the batteries on a regular basis. As a Rayovac Ambassador, I am stocked with the best batteries around! Tonight, my husband pulled down our detectors and replaced the batteries with the Rayovac 9V alkaline battery.
While we lose an hour of sleep tonight, it will certainly not be because I am worried about the safety of my family. Our smoke detectors are ready to alert us of a fire! Are yours?
Thanks for the reminder i am terrible about changing the batteries on our smoke detectors!
Great tip…doing it today!!
I always like this clock change better than the one in the fall – at least for this one my kids aren’t waking up at 6am for a while!
Good reminder on changing our batteries, we always plan to do so and then forget.
I need to replace the battery in my garage – actually need husband to do it. I did the ones in the house already.
This is such an important post and reminder! Thank you!
I always forget to check ours! Adding to my To Do list now. 🙂
We don’t have daylight savings time here, so this is an important reminder!
Luckily, ours are somehow built in so they alarm when we need to change the batteries.
