Apple Fritter Bread Recipe

Now that school has ended, our morning routine is no longer filled with repeated alarms, quick showers, and to-go breakfasts. The lazy days of summer welcome late mornings, pajamas till noon and warm belly-filling breakfasts like this delicious apple fritter bread. Plus, it will make your house smell amazing!

What You Need:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 small-medium green apples
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • Crushed walnuts (optional)

Apple mixture:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

How to Make It:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9×5 loaf pan with non-stick spray.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Loaf Batter: In a large bowl, cream the granulated sugar and butter together until creamy. Add in the milk and mix until combined. Pour half of this mixture into your loaf pan and set aside the rest.

Apple Mixture: Dice up your apples, pour them into a bowl and mix them up with the 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Pour half of this mixture into the pan, on top of the first layer of batter. (Optional: top with some of your crushed walnuts)

Pour ½ of the brown sugar mixture from step 1 on top of the apples in your loaf pan. Then, pour the remaining loaf batter on top of the apple and sugar layer.

Top the loaf with the remaining apple mixture; brown sugar mixture and remaining crushed walnuts.

Bake for 55-60 minutes. Set out to cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan and then cool completely on a rack before glazing.

In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and heavy cream. Then, drizzle all over the top of your finished bread.
