Since Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, the Fleur-de-lis has become an iconic symbol of the perserverance, determination and solidarity amongst the New Orleanian people. The symbol stands for the recovery of our beloved City and the renewal of our spirit. We ARE recovering and our City will be better than ever!
As the Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, I decided that I wanted to do something to “Renew the Spirit” of my readers and show everyone what is RIGHT with New Orleans and it’s lovely people! Each week in August, I will be featuring something GREAT about my City or the people who love it. Pay attention to the stories because they may just earn you EXTRA ENTRIES into my first GIVEAWAYS!
I was fortunate enough to find some WONDERFUL sponsors for my first (of hopefully many) giveaways. Each prize will feature a Fleur-de-lis to remind everyone to “Renew their Spirit!” So far, I have 9 fantastic prizes to win, so make sure you come by and read up the wonderful things happening in New Orleans! The giveaways will begin on Monday, August 18th!

Hi I lived in New Orleans and environs for 8 years. It’s truly a special and unique place. Went to school at Tulane, worked in the Quarter. Miss it. Would love to get involved in one of your things.

I’ve been to New Orleans once about 8 or 9 years ago. The trip was for work, so there wasn’t alot of time for sightseeing and such… but I did have dinner at a fantastic Italian place in Metairie! Don’t remember the name of it though.
I visited NOLA this past June and fell in love with your wonderful city. Thank you for reminding everyone that NOLA is still trying to recover from the devastation brought on by Katrina.
