Because I have recently started losing weight, I have been dreading football season.  New Orleans natives are die-hard Saints fans and with our loyalty comes our FOOD!  Tailgating parties usually include chicken wings, hamburgers, hot dogs, donuts, and jambalaya.  While quite tasty, none of these options are particularly diet friendly.  So, when Frito-Lay challenged me to come up with a “better-for-you” tailgating recipe, I was all over it!  After calling Jennifer for a recipe to start from (y’all know I don’t cook!), we decided that making a chili cheese dip would be awesome!

I started by packing down some fat-free cream cheese at the bottom of a dish.  In a bowl, I mixed one can of turkey chili with one can of Frito-Lay’s jalapeno cheddar cheese and poured the mixture on top of the cream cheese.  I topped with shredded cheddar and baked for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.  The dip was served with Fritos in my really cool football dish!  Very easy and much lower in calories that the traditional chili-cheese dip.

    Taco Salad Bake
    Cook 2-3 chicken breasts, shred, and add taco seasoning.
    Layer shredded chicken in bottom of casserole dish, top with crushed Fritos Corn Chips, corn, and low-fat shredded cheese. The repeat layers one more time.
    Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly.
    Top with tomatoes, lettuce, and salsa. Yum!

    The chicken is a healthier alternative to beef, and it turns out so yummy!

  5. I learned the basc recipe in Santa Fe where Frito Pies ar eall the rage. I modified the recipe to be better for you. Make Chili using ground Turkey instead of beef. Once chili is made take a small frito bag and cut it lengthwise. Add chili to bag. Add onions and 2% cheddar cheese – grated. You can add low fat sour cream and instead of guacamole, just add a slice of avocado and salsa.

  6. One of my fave dips is fat free sour cream with a package of dried onion soup mix. Then you dip fritos in!! It is so good and with FF sour cream not bad for you either!

    4 tomatoes
    1 onion
    1 pepper
    2 cloves of garlic
    1 package of salsa spices
    1 sm container of sour cream -optional
    Chop all,mix together serve ad a dip with the corn chips

  41. My favorite Snack from Frito Lays is the SUNCHIPS® Harvest Cheddar Flavored Multigrain Snacks. I buy these all the time. Yum!

  42. I make a nice layered salad with crushed fritos on top:

    Shred 1 head of iceberg lettuce in a 9×13 pan, add chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese and any other veggies you choose. Top with crushed fritos and serve with italian salad dressing.

    1- 8oz. Pkg Softened Cream Cheese
    1- 16oz. Jar of Salsa (we use medium)
    1- 2 Cup Pkg. Shredded Fiesta Cheese

    To make it healthier we use low fat cream cheese and low fat shredded cheese.

    Blend cream cheese till smooth.
    Alternately add salsa and shredded cheese till well blended.
    Chill for one hour.
    Serve with Frito Lay Tostito Chips for dipping.

    Using the baked Tostitos cups
    Fill with fat free refried beans and bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 350.
    Remove from oven and top with a mixture of salsa and fat free sour cream with fresh cilantro.

    Yummy and low in fat.

  46. I really like original Baked Lays, but my favorite Frito-Lay snack is good, old-fashioned, not-good-for-your-diet but not-terrible-in-moderation Fritos. Yum!

  47. Okay to take Doritos lay them on the bottom of a casserole dish, you heat chili up / canned or homemade then you put it on the chips melt velvetta cheese and put it on top of all of it

    6 medium tomatoes, chopped
    1 large jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
    6 green onions, finely chopped
    1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
    1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    2 tablespoons lime juice
    1 teaspoon kosher salt
    1/4 cup sweet onion, finely chopped
    black pepper, to taste

    Combine all ingredients. For best results, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. I like to serve them with Tostitos Blue Corn Tortilla Chips.

    1/4 cup green pepper

    Soften cream cheese. Beat with hand mixer while adding cottage cheese and taco seasoning. Put in serving dish and cover with shredded lettuce, tomato, green pepper and shredded cheese. Serve with any frito lay chip you prefer. Serves 6-8
