Macy’s Million Dollar Makeover and $50 Macy’s Gift Card Giveaway

Last week, I had to run to the grocery store for a few staple items.  It was a quick trip and I was in a hurry, so I threw on some sweatpants and an old tshirt and I was out the door.  While running  threw the aisles looking for granola bars, it actually did cross my mind that I looked so bad that I could certainly be singled out by the stars of TLC’s “What Not to Wear!”  Don’t you just love that show?

Clinton Kelly, one of the stars of the show, is also Macy’s Style Expert…who knew? Could you use some style advice?  Now you can tell Macy’s and Clinton Kelly why you deserve a MILLION DOLLAR MAKEOVER by uploading photos or videos no later than January 31, 2011.  In early February, eight submissions will be chosen to win a personalized makeover with Clinton Kelly himself which will be filmed. In March, the videos will go live and open voting will begin to determine the Million Dollar Makeover Winner!

So, if you are in desperate need of some style advice or a complete overhaul, “like” Macy’s on Facebook and start pleading your case!

  1. I spend most of my life in t-shirts and jeans. I’m embarrassed to admit I really don’t own many nice clothes.

  2. I wore a black bra under a cream colored sweater out to dinner with my husband because it was the only bra I had clean. topgun34er(at)hotmail(dot)com

  3. my husband would say these peasant pants I bought in Kusadasi, Turkey while on holiday. I love them – he hates them! Very baggy, low crotch, hand made. In my defense I only wear them inside the house.

  4. Once I went to a party where my husband’s old girlfriend was there and she was a platinum blond so I wore a platinum blond wig, I still cringe when I think of it!

  5. My worst fashion faux pas is occasionally wearing pants that are too short. I am tall and have a hard time finding pants long enough. Sometimes they start out as long enough, but shrink in the dryer. There are days that I just need clean, ironed pants to wear to work, and only the floods are left in the closet!

  6. Not dressing in the current styles…I’m not really a fashion buff and just buy what works on me.

    Thanks

  7. Honestly, I am pretty vain and don’t leave the house without a decent outfit and hair/makeup all done. That said, I know some of my clothes could use some tailoring, as some things I buy in a size up so they’ll fit over the “girls.” LOL.

  8. I wear bras with strapless dresses sometimes, and that may be one of my many.
I also wear my husbands clothes because they are comfy and big.Maybe the worst one I have is I am still wearing clothes that I bought 10 years ago!! Honestly I have a few pairs of Jeans from the 90’s that I still wear.
    HA!!!
I love Macy’s! Shopping at Macy’s is like therapy for me

  9. I would have to say it’s wearing dark colored bras and panties with white pants or white shirts and you can see right through. It doesn’t even occur to me until after someone says something lol

  10. I just got back from Date #2 and realised that I was wearing the same outfit I’d worn on Date #1 … Which wouldn’t have been so bad, maybe, except that I realised, half-way into Date #2, that the inside sleeve had a small stain acquired during Date #1. He was a gentleman not to say anything, but I’m almost certain he saw it and remembered. Woe.

  11. My favorite shirts are unraveling around the collar and I’m wearing them anyway.
    lazybones344 at gmail dot com

  12. My worst fashion issue is that I always wear sweatpants, especially the past few months with being pregnant (I hate maternity pants!) and now having just had my 4th baby! I would love to get some style again and start dressing more ‘fashionably!
    Thanks!

  13. What I consider my biggest fashion faux pas is I will not wear heels any more, i’m in my 50s now and i am more comfortable in flat comforable shoes.

  14. There are so many of them. Perhaps the biggest one might be The Raiders Of The Lost Ark type hat I wore everywhere for about 2 years until my best friend destroyed it.

  15. Unless I go out for a specifc reason, I usually wear plain shirts. More nicer shirts probally would look much better.

  16. My worst is running out to the Sheetz gas station one night in a T-shirt and my PJ bottoms LOL I work at home & I work third shift, I got the munchies & wanted a soda and figured no-one but me would be out and about at 3 a.m. –wrong.

  17. I would have to say my too small shirts. I am one of those in between sizes (medium is too large, small is too small) or all of my shirts have shrunk, I can’t quite figure it out but it looks atrocious. LOL. I need shirts badly.

  18. All of my jeans were low rise before my second baby. After she was born, I had to buy several new pairs, because…well, can you say muffin top? Ugh!
    kcoud33 at gmail dot com

  19. Wearing clothes(jeans) that are not the right size for me. I gained weight, so my size went up, and now I’m trying to lose it, and when I drop a few pounds, none of my clothes fit right.

  20. I think my biggest is my addiction to jeans (albeit nice jeans) which I wear everywhere even to nicer functions!

  21. I think it’s that I wear sneakers EVERYWHERE — and altho I think there are a pair or two of shoes in my closet, I haven’t seen them in a LOOOOONG Time.
    1prizewinner(at)gmail(dot)com

  22. My clothes are a disaster. I haven’t bought anything new in years. I’m broke
    baazinga9 at yahoo dot com

  23. when i was in high school..my best frienda and i unknowingly got the same PATTERNED sweaters for christmas and wore them to school on the same day…we looked like twins!
    nannypanpan at sbcglobal.net

  24. I wear jeans and a tshirt. Usually a NASCAR one since I have about 5 of them. I have only 3 pants outfits that I’ve had for years. I really want to lose weight so I haven’t bought anything for myself.

  25. Elastic waist pants….I have acid reflux and can’t wear anything tight at the waist.

    lkish77123 at gmail dot com

  26. When I was pregnant with my first child in 1991, I wore my husbands 2X and 3X shirts to work.. I’m a very petite person. I must have looked horrible.

  27. My faux pas is dressing in a uniform – capris and tee in the summer and jeans with a turtle and jacket in the winter. I’ve been ignoring fashion for a long time and it shows.

  28. My worst fashion faux pas were my 4 years of high school, when I went through a goth phase. Black lipstick? Does not look good on anyone.

  29. My worst fashion faux pas is wearing sweat pants. I know they are comfy, but something you should only wear at home or to the gym.

  30. i have some furry pajama pants that my husband hates… and lots of super baggy hoodies.
    oheeyore at hotmail dot com

  31. I luv my tee shirts and jeans. I especially like to wear my Mario and Nintendo-themed shirts (very popular with the kiddies!)

  32. My worst fashion faux pas were the years I wore comfortable bras before a friend pointed out to me they weren’t doing their job.

  33. My worse would be wearing sweatpants an sneakers everywhere, its just so comfortable

    vlbelk(at)Hotmail.com

  34. I have no fashion faux pas. No, really! And it is not because I am perfect, but because I listen to my own needs and wants and wear what I like. If someone else doesn’t like my style, I am never offended, because we are all different and have unique tastes. But I will say that, in the past, the teased 80’s hair might have been a poor choice on my part 🙂

  35. Back in the day, I wore ALL my collars up! Unfortunately there are pictures for proof!
    nrdunningATgmailDOTcom

  36. My worst fashion mistake is that I wear jeans and t-shirts all the time. I have absolutely no fashion sense.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    eswright18 at gmail dot com

  37. I dislike tight clothing and wear drawstring pants that are bigger than they should be, but I do not wear them when I’m out.

  38. I’m still wearing the hoodie I wore in high school…I’m now 30. :/

    beyondthestarvingartist at gmail dot com

  39. Mine would be wearing over sized tshirts – hiding behind my clothes.
    Thank you.
barbara dot montyj at gmail dot com

  40. My worst fashion faux paux is the warm, comfy, soft hoody/sweatshirt that I wear… and have worn for way too many years (and the years show on it)

  41. wearing a short shirt with overly baggy jeans so that my midriff showed – but it was at my thesis defense party

  42. My worst fashion faux pas was falling in love with a top that was way to short and my muffin top hung out. I’m now more aware of the proper length of my tops.

  43. Pingback: Macy’s Million Dollar Makeover with $50 Giftcard Giveaway : Mom Knows It All. – New Jersey Mom blogger on family, product reviews, tech, games and more. I know EVERYTHING – just ask my hubby.
  44. I probably have 12 pairs of the same black stretch pants that I have probably worn for the last eight years along with a T-shirt or sweatshirt with the logo of the university that I attended. Plus, I always wear tennis shoes.

  45. my worst fashion faux pas – a few years ago I was at work and about mid-morning, I realized I had on a black pump on one foot and a blue pump on the other.
    billdebstanton at hotmail dot com

  46. My worst fashion faux pas was when I was younger and gained a lot of weight, not dressing like I was aware I had actually gained the weight.

    b(dot)cardone(at)hotmail(dot)com

  47. My worst fashion mistake is that I seldom get dressed…um yeah. I am a stay at home mom and nothing fits and I nurse so most clothes are not friendly for this unless they are maternity and I am petite so that doesn’t work. So Often I stay in Jammies all day long unless I am forced to eave the house…yeah, I know. Sexy 🙁

    grahamcrackerbabykisses AT gmail DOT com

  48. I’m self conscious about being heavier, so I wear everything baggy – as if you wouldn’t notice my weight.

  49. I don’t do it anymore (thank goodness) but I used to wear nothing but sweats, I didn’t even own a normal pair of jeans for years. Then I met my husband and he quickly forced me out of those and into normal pants again.

  50. All I Wear is Sweat Pants in the Winter & in the Summer it’s Very Hot I Cut My T-Shirts short and Cut the Colers of and some of the Sleave was very in in the 80’s witch I Was a Teen in those years and loved the look.I’m so not in Fashion.
    sasluvbooks(at)yahoo.com

  51. Mine, according to my children, is that I do not even know what fashion is (actually I do not much care – if I like it & it is comfortable, that is all that matters). I wear my clothes loose and they don’t like that either, but I don’t like tight, never have. If fashion is short, I wear long, actually never wear short. Anyway my fashion drummer beats a different tune than most & I don’t mind.

  52. My worst-dressed nightmare was many years ago…when I was a young mom of 3 going to a concert (Chicago) and thought I was “young” enough to wear PARACHUTE pants. Black. With some really scanty red shirt and black boots. Looked like a train wreck! LOL!

  53. I’m afraid to say I have so many…. mostly just old clothes that don’t quite fit right. Or pants that don’t fit right. Those are the worst!

  54. My biggest fashion mistake is still wearing my pregnancy sweat pants 2 years after I had my last baby. They are now huge on me as I have lost all my baby weight.

  55. My worst fashion faux pas would have to be wearing my pajamas out of the house lol.

    aeris321 at gmail dot com

  56. My worst right now is wearing this awful hideous sweater (it’s cold) with everything else when I leave the house.

  57. Some people would say it’s wearing socks with my Birkenstocks (but I don’t really care). mcgillrmcgill(at)charter(dot)net

  58. The only pants I own in my closet are jeans, because I have to wear them at work. Never have time for anything else. Sure could use a nice pair of dress pants. Thanks for the giveaway

    karenb834atyahoo.com

  59. I’ve worn colors that don’t really go together because I can’t tell ! One of the worst is when I thought I brought a pair of dress shoes I wanted to wear to a baptism and when I arrived, I couldn’t find them so I wore black shoes with a brown outfit. When I arrived home, the brown shoes I had wanted to wear were in the trunk.

  60. I don’t match usually, I try to put gray and tan together and apparently, that looks bad! 🙂

    nancymeyer1 at gmail dot com

  61. I would have to say that my worst fashion faux pas is my sweat pants and sweatshirts.
I tend to wear them not only around the house in the winter but basically everywhere that we go as well.

    jweezie43[at]gmail[dot]com

  62. Oh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s that I pretty much wear the same two pairs of shoes to work, and that I never change my handbag. When one wears out I buy another one, but I certainly don’t change it seasonally.

  63. My worst faux pas is wearing mismatched clothes ALL THE TIME. I don’t even realize it. My husband has to tell me I need to change my outfit, lol.

    egenevieve at hotmail dot com

  64. My worst faux pas is wearing white socks with my black Sketchers. It even bothers me, but I still do it.

    welindsey at gmail dot com

  65. My worst fashion faux pas may be that I don’t take enough risks and wear the same types of things year after year.

    ashaldridge (at) gmail (dot) com

  66. I wear clothes more for comfort than style, I am sure there is a way to combine comfort and style, but I need some help figuring that out.

  67. I’m a walking faux pas! I lost a significant amount of weight and I still wear some of my old clothes on occasion! I’ve watched What Not to Wear for years and SO wouldn’t mind being ambushed by Clinton & Stacy!

Thank you for the chance to win!

  68. I would have to say wearing sweat pants to go shopping!
    Great giveaway thank you.
    tishajean@ charter.net

  69. I only own 2 pairs of comfortable jeans that I purchased at a resale store. While they are comfy, I’m sure they look like they are out of style! I’d love to buy a new pair or two.

  70. I sometimes wear the same pair of pants two or three days in a row and then lie about it when asked!

    wolverina401 at gmail dot com

  71. I’m not too bad…but I definitely am too frumpy…I need to get out of super comfy clothes and get some sexier ones.

  72. My wife is always telling me to stop wearing my underwear and t-shirts once they look like swiss cheese they have so many holes in them! LOL

  73. I keep my fashion faux pas at home. If anyone saw me in some of my “at home” clothes I would be really embarrassed. I usually don’t bother to match anything and they have odd patterns and colors. But they are comfy!

  74. all I own is PJs…I stay at home and have nothing really to go out in besides jeans an t-shirts…would love to just have some new cloths! LOL

  75. My worst fashion faux pas is probably wearing cute jeans that tend to fall down in the back from time to time (if you know what I mean!!). I hate it, but it’s hard to find jeans that don’t do that!

  76. I think my biggest fashion faux pas is wearing my clothes too loose and not hemming my dress pants when they’re too long.

    glycine.max at gmail dot com

  77. probably living in tennis shoes and sweats, pregnancy is the current excuse but thats only going to last so long..lol

  78. My worst fashion faux pas is getting into mom-mode and wearing only things that are comfortable like yoga pants.

  79. My fashion faux pas is that I don’t care about fashion! I care about comfort! No spike heels for me – give me flats anyday
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  80. My worst is not having clothes or shoes that I need when I need to dress up more. I have no heels that I can wear because I have painful feet and so have not bought any for years. Plus, I only have one dress!

  81. an ill-fitting bra after I had my first baby was a huge faux-pas. My sister still gives me a hard time over it!

  82. My worst fashion faux pas is my use of my husband’s dress socks!

    priscilla(dot)a(dot)escobar(at)gmail(dot)com

  83. In sixth grade, I had a pair of pink acid wash part-lycra stretch jeans, with snaps at the ankles because they were so tight. Did I mention that the snaps were shaped like triangles? Sigh.

  84. Thanks for the giveaway…my wife has caught me wearing black (ankle cut) athletic socks with wingtip shoes with a business suit on my way to work more than once.
