With being a teacher, a husband that has early morning hours, and two kids to get to school, breakfast can be a mad rush Monday through Friday. My visions of being June Cleaver in the kitchen whipping up Belgian waffles for my children before school never came to reality. Breakfast around here is grab and get to the table……fast. When I was offered the chance to review a new breakfast product, Seneca Farms Oatmeal and Fruit, I was excited to see if it was something we can add to the breakfast rotation!
I received samples of both the Apple Cinnamon and Vanilla Peach oatmeal. Both come in a convenient container that is ready to go, so there isn’t any prep involved other than to vent the plastic lid and zap in the microwave for less than a minute! My guinea pig for this breakfast experiment was my son, who loves oatmeal and Seneca Farms was no exception! He ate his quickly and without complaint and I felt good knowing that he got something warm and nourishing…better than cold cereal by far! He ate breakfast at 7:00 am and said that he wasn’t starving as usual before his 11:30 lunch period at school. Success! We will definitely be keeping Seneca Farms Oatmeal and Fruit in our pantry from now on!
Did you know that nearly 60% of U.S. parents of children ages 3-17 admit that their child skips breakfast, with more than half of U.S. Moms wishing their child ate a more nutritious breakfast? Additionally, 46% of Moms who skip breakfast say they do so because they do not have enough time to prepare or eat it. (*Results of 2011 Children’s Nutrition Survey, conducted by Harris Interactive for Seneca Farms) Those are some scary statistics. Although one of my children is difficult to coax into eating in the morning, I always have something available to her. Now, being short on time can’t be an excuse to not offer her something nutritious and satisfying!
