Nestle Family Back to School {Giveaway}

Well, we are almost done with another week of school.  We are finally settling into a routine here and both girls are thriving in their new classrooms.  My oldest had her very first test and scored a 100 (proud mama moment)!

Earlier this week, Nestle Family challenged me to pledge a New School Year Resolution.  I decided to pledge a new, healthier school year for my girls by preparing nutritious dinners and packing healthy options for lunch and snacks.  My main obstacle is finding time to prepare, so my husband and I decided that we would take one hour every Sunday morning to plan a menu for the entire week followed by a shopping trip at the grocery store to stock up on essentials.

I found a very useful app for my iPhone to aid in planning and shopping trips, Dinner Spinner from Allrecipes.com. Almost like a slot machine, you can “spin” the categories to find something fun to cook.  Looking for something specific?  You can select main dishes made with chicken in 45 minutes or less and instantly view many recipes that fit the bill!  I am hoping this app helps me to find new recipes so I can stick to my resolution.

Have you made a New School Year Resolution?

  1. To get my girls in bed earlier. I’m having an awful time of getting them into bed by 8. We have four nights of softball practice and it’s wrecking our schedule. Thank you!

  2. My resolution is (for ME) to survive the last year of high school teen girl drama AND help her get ready to go to college!

  3. I am the homework monitor between my husband and I, but I was never really too organized. This year I spent money on files, boards and have a system to communicate with boys and meet deadlines for forms, etc…

  4. My school year resolution has always been that this year we really will stay focused and in routine.

  5. My resolution for this school year is to be better organized with all of the after school activities, homework, dinner, bedtimes. Once we figure out a good schedule I will stick to it this year.. I need it and the kids need it.

  6. Our New School Year Resolution is to study on the weekends! We wait until the night before a test to study and it is way to stressful! Thank you!

  7. Well I don’t have any little ones to get off to school anymore, but I do have a grandaughter which I get to school once a week and I make sure she gets a good breakfast before she leaves. Thanks for the giveaway

  8. My New School Year Resolution is to try to get my daughter to take more of a variety of foods in her lunch. She doesnt like sandwiches…and last year took an apple instead every day.
    Thanks!

  9. Our New School Resolution is that Homework is done as soon as everyone is done with their snack. After supper we will watch about an hour and 1/2 of TV, then brush teeth, quiet time…and then bed. Oh yeah forgot about baths lol

  10. My new School Year resolution is to make sure my son has everything prepared the night before. There is nothing that starts the day off worse than “Mom, I don’t know where _____ is! I need it or I am going to get in trouble!”

  11. Our goal for this year is to study every night with our 13 year old. She tends to put it off until the last minute and could do way better if she put out a little more effort.

  12. Starting the day with a good breakfast and encouraging that the healthy lunch be eaten helps kids focus and get the most out of class. My resolution is providing the organization to get them to bed on time and also get the right food choices in front of them.

  13. I have no kids in school anymore. My only school resolution is to be available to chauffeur the neighbor’s kids when needed.

  15. All my children are grown and our youngest is off to college so my resolution would be to stay off the roads when school buses are transporting kids to and from school. It is annoying to be behind a school bus that makes multiple stops when you’re in a hurry to get somewhere.

  16. My new school year resolution is to help my daughter get back on track. Last year was rough for her and I want this year to be one of her best yet!
