The cooler temperatures, the changing leaves, and the overabundance of toy commercials on television all signify that Christmas is just around the corner. The department stores in our area have been working on decorations and starting the holiday sales already but there is one major thing missing….SANTA!
Today, November 17th at 9:30am, Santa officially arrived at Lakeside Mall. To celebrate, BRAVO! Cucina Italiana hosted a breakfast buffet starting at 7:30am including french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and fruit ($10.95 for adults and $5.95 for kids). We arrived for our reservation at 8:30am and were immediately seated. The line for food was long, so we decided to hang back and take pictures with Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, Mrs. Clause and the Snow Queen.
After pictures, we got in line for the buffet which was delicious (the potatoes were my favorite). The kids too time coloring pictures and checking out the goody bag provided with each child reservation. The bag included a coupon for a free BRAVO! Kids meal, a ticket to ride the train in the Mall and a ticket to redeem one free cupcake at the neighboring Sucre Bakery.
Sucre New Orleans had several tables set up outside their store filled with iced (but undecorated) cupcakes. The cupcakes were housed in plastic cups which could be covered to take the cupcake “to go.” Genius! The kids each got to choose toppings to decorate their cupcake such as chocolate nibs, sprinkles and peppermints.
After our cupcakes became masterpieces, we headed to the Mall to see the arrival of Santa! Preceded by dancing candy canes, a brass band and a whole crew of holiday characters, Santa made his way to center stage to greet all the children. My girls had a great time singing Christmas carols and waving to Santa. We hope to return in the next few weeks to take pictures.
We had a great time at the BRAVO! breakfast buffet this morning! I would definitely recommend the event if you have little ones eager to ring in the holiday season.
Hey, I have a question about this event! So was it super crowded in the mall for the welcoming of Santa? I’m trying to decided if I want to do this with my three year old. I don’t want to get his hopes up about Santa, and then not be able to see the whole thing.
Angela: It was fairly crowded in the Mall. We did get to see Santa but my husband and I had to hold the little ones up so they could see. Now, this article was written 2 years ago, so I am not sure how the crowds are these days.
