King’s Hawaiian Makes a “Sweet” Hot Dog!

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took our girls on a quick trip just outside of New Orleans to Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park for our first ever weekend of camping fun. For three days, we did everything from swimming to playing mini-golf and riding a paddle boat to building campfires. We had a wonderful time, but admittedly it was hard to get the girls to settle down enough to share a peaceful meal together.

Because we were so active, we were definitely ready to eat! The first night, we decided to serve hot dogs….easy and a kid-pleaser for sure. When shopping for camping food, I found King’s Hawaiian Hot Dog Buns! I have been a long time fan of their dinner rolls, so I grabbed two packs of buns to bring on our trip.

The girls love to add their own touch to their hot dog so we brought along a variety of toppings. Ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, chili, shredded cheese, salsa con queso, relish, and onions were placed on the dinner table for the kids to create their own dog. The winning hot dog combination included chili, salsa con queso and relish. The bite of the queso combined with the sweetness of the King’s Hawaiian bun was the perfect marriage of sweet and spicy!

When it was finally time to dig in, the family and I sat down to relax from the activities of the day. We paired the hot dogs with some carrots (a vegetable my daughters both love) and enjoyed sharing what we loved most about our trip. Both of my girls sat still long enough to completely devour their dinner (and the oldest even asked for seconds).

Thanks, King’s Hawaiian, for bringing my family together!
