Roll on the River from New Orleans with Disney Cruise Lines

What do you get when you cross Disney and New Orleans? Mickey beignets, of course! I had the opportunity to attend a Disney Press event to get just a little taste of what’s in store as Disney Cruise Lines announced it will set sail from New Orleans in early 2020.

Mickey beignets

The Disney Wonder will embark on six cruises during this limited-time season from New Orleans, including four-, six- and seven-night Western Caribbean sailings; a seven-night Bahamian cruise; and a 14-night Panama Canal voyage, departing February 7 through March 6.

Mickey Mouse in New Orleans

As the home of Princess Tiana, Disney and New Orleans have already been connected as the sights and sounds of The Big Easy served as the inspiration for the beloved animated film, “The Princess and the Frog.” Before you board the Disney Wonder in New Orleans, take advantage of distinct flavors of my hometown and visit the many family friendly museums and parks. Of course, Princess Tiana will be boarding with you and you can visit her cafe as you dine aboard the Disney Wonder on your way to many fabulous ports.

Because this is the very first time that Disney Cruise Lines will be sailing from New Orleans, and only six cruises will be offered, you will need to act fast to secure your spot with the Mouse. Reservations will open to the general public on October 4, 2018 but select guests can get early access to reservations if:

  • you’re currently a Platinum, Gold or Silver Castaway Club member, you can book on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
  • you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member or an Adventures by Disney Insider, you can book on October 3, 2018.
